I have been tasked with designing the stained glass interior of 'Saekangyeong,' an eyewear store located in Ikseon-dong, Jongno-gu, South Korea, where traditional Korean houses ('hanok') coexist with modern businesses.
Taking inspiration from the traditional tiled roofs ('kiwa') bathed in intense sunlight and dusk-tinged atmospheres,
I made them the focal point of the design. Incorporating the playful scene of cats leaping around, which is a common sight in the area, I aimed to inject a sense of fun into the design. Utilizing stained glass as the medium,
I endeavored to capture the texture and shape of the tiled roofs to create a unique ambiance.
Furthermore, I emphasized the feeling of Korean painting ('hwa') by making the seal the centerpiece of the design.
Through this design, I sought to create a space that harmoniously blends the past and the present,
reflecting the unique charm of Ikseon-dong.
